Its about time I stocked this hook ! Arno the owner of Grip sent me a few samples of this hook in 2008. I was instantly impressed. I can see what Arno had in mind when he designed the pattern. The Grip 21711NSL has the same profile as the excellent Gamakatsu SC15 . It has a slightly longer shank which will lend itself to ‘Clouser style ’ flies in addition to standard unweighted baitfish patterns tied ‘ Deciever Style’. The Gamakatsu SC15 has a tendency to rust pretty fast . The Grip however benefits from a extremely strong high carbon steel with a chemically sharpened point and the newly developed NSL coating to make your flies last longer.

This must be the most versatile Saltwater Fly tying hook on the Market , perfect for Coldwater Patterns , Bonefish , Tarpon or Bluewater Fly fishing. I love the Gamakatsu SC15 but I have had issues with corrosion . Mustad seem to be deleting all their best patterns this hook should fill the void they will have left behind.
