Likely Shore Locations - Rocky weedy areas , depths ranging from 1 - 20 M
Methods - Garfish are generaly high in the water and will respond well to small surface lures as well as small baitfish fished at high speed . A Big Gar following a fly in Gin Clear water can be quite memorable
Patterns. Try Surface flies with short tails and small hooks as they tend to ‘Tail Nip’ They are notorious for their tail leaping and will often escape capture. No doubt small Salmon Flies with small treble hooks would increase your chances of landing a Gar. PS They smell pretty odd !! The fish that is
